he many reefs and lagoons of the FSM islands offer tremendous opportunities for aquaculture development.

Aquaculture has recently begun on a small scale, and included milkfish farming, black pearl farming, giant clams, trochus and sponges for export, and aquarium fish. Each of these business areas is seeking additional investment for expansion, especially with investors who have marketing capabilities in major export markets.
